Are you an experienced chartering or shipping professional with strong market insight and a strategic mindset? Then this is your opportunity to take on a key role in DLG Group, one of Europe’s leading agricultural businesses, annually trading over 13 million tons of grains and raw materials globally.
We are looking for a Chartering Manager to join our Chartering team in Fredericia, Denmark. You will play a central role in managing our chartering activities across borders and across group entities, contributing both to the operational execution and the strategic optimization of our freight operations. You will report directly to the Head of Chartering and work closely with stakeholders in trading, execution, forwarding and external partners such as brokers, shipowners and operators.
Your role and responsibilities
You will take ownership of the freight trading activities across the DLG Group and help ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant chartering operations. Your tasks include:
- Manage chartering activities, including identifying and fixing vessels (coasters to Panamax)
- Negotiate freight contracts and charter parties with shipowners and operators
- Continuously monitor and analyze freight market trends to guide trading decisions
- Create and deliver market reports to support trading needs and freight optimization
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders across group entities and borders
- Evaluate sanctions risks related to vessels, owners, and operators
- Approve freight-related invoices and maintain accurate documentation
- Provide post-fixture support to both the execution and trading teams to ensure cost and earnings optimization
- Support the forwarding team with calculations and freight input
- Travel 15–25 days per year to maintain supplier and customer relations
What we expect from you
We are looking for a candidate with a relevant maritime or commercial education and a minimum of five years’ experience within chartering, shipping, or operations. You are a strong negotiator with a commercial mindset and the ability to make informed decisions based on market developments. You bring a structured and analytical approach, thrive in a dynamic environment, and are comfortable managing multiple tasks. In addition, you are proficient in Excel and IT systems relevant to freight operations. Strong communication skills in English are essential, and proficiency in Danish and German is considered an advantage.
